I would have never said it then but he really does care. I was 19 in his courtroom. No High school . 2nd degree robbery. He really showed that he care about me getting my ged. I got it and have 2 jobs now. Currently I am enrolled in school at NAU. I just want to thank him for that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6238764490786855274.post-73629365938180832152010-01-15T19:37:54.350-06:002010-01-15T19:37:54.350-06:00As a defense attorney, I don't feel like I'...As a defense attorney, I don't feel like I'm "allowed" to contribute to judicial campaigns so much as required to do so. A prohibition on attorney contributions would actually make me very happy. The suggestion that such contributions gain my clients more favorable treatment than the State receives is laughable. It's more like I'm hoping to avoid worse treatment for my clients in the event that a judge is inclined to hold a grudge because I didn't support his or her campaign.

To Anonymous, I would point out that most judges spend their entire careers as prosecutors before becoming judges. Do you think they can be truly objective? Furthermore, prosecutors and judges both work for the county, in the same building, and use some of the same resources. These are just a few of the ways in which the deck is stacked against defendants.

Judge Lynch has experience on both sides of the docket, however, and it shows. He is one of the most fair and neutral criminal court judges in Travis County.Kiele Linroth Pacehttp://austinjustice.pacefirm.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6238764490786855274.post-57270630645093494402010-01-14T22:52:08.408-06:002010-01-14T22:52:08.408-06:00great interview again, DAC.
I would love to know...great interview again, DAC.

I would love to know what Judge Lynch would do if he faced a viable opponent in his next election. Would he run again or would he be willing to hang them up. The entire process of electing judges is one aspect of the Texas legal world that absolutely fascinates me.RGnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6238764490786855274.post-35283910030016593982010-01-14T09:00:52.233-06:002010-01-14T09:00:52.233-06:00stamper, I most certainly will.

Tell me how you can be objective when the defense attorney appearing in your court has been instrumental in getting you elected and lives in your neighborhood. As the father of a murder victim I find that very troublesome.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6238764490786855274.post-52304155554712693732010-01-13T14:01:12.812-06:002010-01-13T14:01:12.812-06:00I am impressed to read in Judge Lynch, perhaps not...I am impressed to read in Judge Lynch, perhaps not an outright restraint, but certainly a very commendable sense of perspective for the powers of his position. May we all keep such a fresh perspective on our official powers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6238764490786855274.post-88986642378435352412010-01-13T09:08:38.189-06:002010-01-13T09:08:38.189-06:00Well, hang on a sec. Judges, all judges, set the hours they are actually in the courtroom, and I"m afraid your comment shows how poorly I've been explaining the system here. FOr example, if Judge Lynch, or any other judge, were to sit in his courtroom from 8:30 - 5, he'd be wasting his time and your tax dollars. Why? Because there wouldn't be anything for him to do! He doesn't just sit there dispensing justice, he works with lawyers for the state and defense, and if they aren't there, there's no point him being on the bench.
When he's not on the bench, he's in his office and available to lawyers, working on existing cases (researching, reading briefs etc). Trust me, work ethic is not an issue with Judge Lynch, nor is "judicial arrogance" which is pretty clear when you read the rest of the interview.
Also, lighten up. Having a judge with a sense of humor is a valuable asset.D.A. You work for me: The taxpayer. Get there by 8:30 and stay at least until 5:00. That is the LEAST you should do.

And when you don't show up on time (based upon the arbitrary agenda that you set), you ARE late. You are wasting time of people who are just as important as you.

Incredible.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
